The Wheel > Days Between > NFA > Liberty

There were days, and there were days, and there were days between, Summer flies and August dies, the world grows dark and mean, Comes the shimmer of the moon, on black infested trees, the singing man is at his song, the holy on their knees, the reckless are out wrecking, the timid plead their pleas, No one knows much more of this, than anyone can see, anyone can see

Photobucket

There were days, and there were days, and there were days besides, when phantom ships with phantom sails, set to sea on phantom tides, Comes the lightning of the sun, on bright unfocused eyes, the blue of yet another day, a springtime wet with sighs, a hopeful candle lingers, in the land of lullabies, where headless horsemen vanish, with wild and lonely cries, lonely cries

Photobucket

There were days, and there were days, and there were days I know, when all we ever wanted was to learn and love and grow, Once we grew into our shoes, we told them where to go, walked halfway around the world, on promise of the glow, stood upon a mountain top, walked barefoot in the snow, gave the best we had to give, how much we'll never know, we'll never know

Photobucket

There were days, and there were days, and there were days between, polished like a golden bowl, the finest ever seen, Hearts of Summer held in trust, still tender, young and green, left on shelves collecting dust, not knowing what they mean, valentines of flesh and blood, as soft as velveteen, hoping love would not forsake, the days that lie between, lie between

Nice shots. I was just up at the top of Mt. Tamalpias on Monday! The plume from the refinery fires was a strange surprise...

The Days Between from the Move Me Brightly show is rather good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqNWrwR_STY\

Also, August 5th is now officially Jerry Day in San Francisco!!!

Definitely going to enjoy those in the near future with a buddy of mine that knows the exact location. The time I went we could smell the sulfur but could not find the springs. Perhaps the tide was too high.

Have you been to Sykes hot springs in Big Sur?

August of 1993 was kind for us heads in the Pacific Northwest. Two Jerry Shows (Seattle and then Portland) and two weeks later the Dead returned to Autzen after being banished as a result of all of the tour rat shenanigans during the June 1990 run. The locals in Lane County had several town meetings and the Dead paid some money for damages before they would agree to allow this two night stand. The shows themselves were as a whole good but it goes without saying that they were beyond their prime at this point. The only song I remember as being stellar was the Standing on the Moon. But like I said for "93" they were strong but compared to their overall catalog average to my ears.

The pictures of the Bay Area reaffirm why I haven chosen to become old and in the way here.

Saturdays show at Autzen was strong, the Huey Lewis Schoolgirl and Garcia delivering the final chorus of Standing on the Moon "somewhere in San Francisco, on a back porch in July, a lovely view of heaven, but i'd rather be with you, be with you, i'd rather be with you, be with you" shredding on bending knees was epic!

I understand Lemieuxs hesitancy releasing post 1990 shows but this weekend would make for a fine 3-CD offering and the audio quality is outstanding. Check out David Gans Grateful Dead Hour broadcast. The last of the great Grateful Dead performances.

Speaking of which, whatever became of bkidwell? There was a conversation with Wisconsindead about attending UWM and poof! He was one of the more articulate musicologists.
